Swimming Level Descriptions

To assist you in placing your child in the most suitable aquatics level, the following is a list of necessary skills to enter each level.

Preschool: Children must be at least 3 years of age or be extremely comfortable in the water.

Level I: Child must be comfortable in a structured class setting away from the parent.

Level II: Child must fully submerge face, accomplish 10 bobs with support, float on front with support, float on back with support, blow bubbles, enter and exit water independently, move 5 yards in chest deep water, and kick on front with support,

Level III: Child must hold breath and submerge head for 3 seconds, retrieve object from bottom of pool, explore deep water with support, front float unsupported with recovery from float, back float unsupported with recovery from float, rhythmic breathing, flutter kick on front, flutter kick on back, backstroke arm action, and freestyle using arms and kicking.

Level IV: Child must retrieve object from bottom with eyes open, bob in water slightly over their head, jump into water from side, glide on back two body lengths, glide on front two body lengths, front crawl with breathing to one side, back crawl for 10 yards, reverse direction while swimming on front, reverse direction while swimming on back and tread water.

Level V: Child must bob in deep water, demonstrate buoyancy, rotary breathing, elementary backstroke for 10 yards, sculling on back for 5 yards, front crawl with rotary breathing for 25 yards, breaststroke kick without kick board for 10 yards, and tread water for 2 minutes.

Level VI: Child must be able to demonstrate elementary backstroke for 25 yards, backstroke for 10 yards, sidestroke for 10 yards, swimming underwater for 3 body lengths, butterfly dolphin kick for 10 yards, front crawl (freestyle) for 50 yards, back crawl (backstroke) for 50 yards, flip turns for backstroke and freestyle and tread water for 7 minutes.

Level VII: Child must swim front crawl (freestyle) for 100 yards with at least one flip turn, back crawl (backstroke) for 100 yards with at least on flip turn, breast stroke for 25 yards, side stroke for 25 yards, butterfly for 25 yards, breast stroke turn, and tread water with no hands for at least 1 minute.

Group Swimming Lessons

Swim classes will be divided by age as well as ability per "Red Cross" guidelines.

Diving Lessons

Beginning diving lessons will be available at the following times:

10:10am-10:50am

11:10am-11:50am

$65.00 per child per session

Aqua Aerobics

Enjoy a class that combines strength training and aerobics with varying degrees of intensity. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, these classes will offer you a challenging and fun workout! Class times are as follows:

8:00-9:00am Monday - Friday (water aerobics)

9:00-10:00am Monday - Friday (joint mobility)

5:30-6:30pm Monday - Thursday (water aerobics)

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available for everyone from the young novice to the seasoned competitor and tri-athlete. Times are arranged to suit your schedule. The cost is $21.50 per half hour session. Call the aquatics office for more details.

Attention Parents – Swim Diapers Please!

To prevent accidents and closing down the pool, it is mandatory that all children three years old and under wear swim diapers at all time while in the pool. Your cooperation is very much appreciated by your fellow members and the Five Seasons management!
